Limerick Food Partnership
Limerick Food Partnership works to improve access to healthy food for people and communities across Limerick City and County. We focus on raising awareness, improving access, and increasing the supply of healthy, affordable and sustainable food options, particularly in communities most affected by food poverty and food insecurity.
About Limerick Food Partnership
Awareness | Access | Supply
Limerick Food Partnership (LFP) is a collaborative partnership between community and voluntary organisations and statutory agencies. It is hosted by Limerick City Partnership and has been working across Limerick City and County since 2005.
Limerick Food Partnership brings together organisations from health, education, local government, community development and social inclusion. By working together, we can respond to immediate needs while also addressing the wider issues that shape our local food system. This partnership approach allows us to take coordinated action on food poverty, food access and food sustainability, and to support long-term change across the county.
Limerick Food Partnership is guided by a multi-agency Steering Group made up of representatives from community, voluntary and statutory organisations across Limerick City and County. This group provides leadership, direction and shared expertise to support the work of the partnership.

What we do
Limerick Food Partnership works across a number of key areas to support individuals, communities and organisations.
We aim to:
- Raise awareness of healthy food and healthy lifestyles
- Build individual and community food skills, such as budgeting, meal planning and cooking
- Support the development of new and existing community food initiatives
- Promote intercultural integration and diversity through food-based activities
- Improve access to information on food supports and food poverty
- Reduce food waste and promote environmentally sustainable food systems
- Influence policy related to food supply, access and sustainability
Our key projects:
Healthy Food Made Easy
Healthy Food Made Easy (HFME) is a national nutrition and cookery programme delivered in Limerick City and County through Limerick Food Partnership, Healthy Limerick and the HSE. Though HFME, we support individuals and communities to build practical food skills through evidence-based education and training.
The programme supports people to:
- Switch to healthier food choices
- Plan meals on a budget
- Prepare simple, nutritious meals
The course is based on the most up-to-date healthy eating guidelines from the Department of Health.

The Food Finder
The Food Finder is a new mapping tool being developed by Limerick Food Partnership to help people better understand the local food environment in Limerick City and County.
Using mapping technology, the Food Finder will show:
- Supermarkets and local food shops
- Food banks and community food supports
- Community cafés and other food initiatives
The project is participatory and involves people and organisations from across the community, health, education, environment and food sectors. It will support better planning, collaboration and access to information about local food supports.
