Building the Case for Community Resources
When a local community group recognised that a growing population was creating new challenges and opportunities for their area, they approached Limerick City Partnership for support in planning for the future.
Recognising the increasing demand for community services and facilities, Limerick City Partnership's Community Development team undertook an in-depth Area Analysis to support local efforts to plan for the future. The analysis provides a detailed picture of the area's social, economic and demographic profile.
The findings were presented at a community event attended by residents, community representatives, service providers, and other stakeholders with an interest in the area's future development. Limerick City Partnership also worked closely with the local community group to facilitate local consultation meetings and support the development of plans and priorities for the area.
This ongoing work demonstrates the power of community-led development. By combining local knowledge with evidence-based research, residents are better equipped to advocate for the resources, services, and facilities needed to support a thriving and growing community.
"Working with active community networks to advocate for community resources is a highlight of our community development work. Listening to and learning from residents is key to ensuring that planned developments meet the needs of both current and future communities."
With support from Limerick City Partnership, the community group continues to work with residents and stakeholders to advance plans for the area and help shape a future that reflects the needs and aspirations of the local community.
Everyone's journey is different.
